The unpainted Supermarine Spitfire prototype flown by Jeffery Quill, flies
over the Supermarine Works at Southampton after taking off from Eastleigh
aerodrome on 26th March 1936. This was not its very first flight however,
that occurred on the 5th March when 'Mutt' Summers took her up and with
the undercarriage fixed in the down position. 18" x 24" oil
on canvas.
