First Flight of the CF-105 Avro Arrow - March 25 1958
by Colin E. Bowley
Canada's first supersonic aircraft was considered at the time to be years ahead of any other aircraft of its type in production. Then, on "Black Friday" 20 February, 1959, an unbelievable political decision was made to scrap the entire Arrow project, effective immediately. In an instant, the result of years of dedicated work by thousands of skilled people was wiped out.
