AVIATION ARTISTS ON FINAL APPROACH TO CALGARY xx June 2004

Calgary, AB -- Aviation art lands in Calgary as the Canadian Aviation Artists' Association (CAAA) will be holding its X th annual convention here between xx and xx June, 2004. A number of events will be held in association with this convention including a public aviation art display at the Calgary Air Museum illustrating the artwork of this national aviation art group. The art work will include the XX pieces of aviation art known as the "Millennium Collection". This is a collection of works depicting the most significant aircraft in the first century of aviation that has been on display throughout Canada.

"We are pleased to bring our convention to Calgary this year in recognition of the outstanding support for aviation art that we have enjoyed in the past from the Calgary aviation and art communities" stated Ardell Bourgeois, CAAA President. "In the past three years we have been able to bring our artwork to the public in Alberta through the efforts of our western region group who have organized public art displays at various museums and galleries in Alberta and we look forward to enjoying Calgarian hospitality again for our annual convention" he added.

The CAAA is an organization of artists who have an interest in aviation with the mandate of using art to illustrate Canada's aviation history. Since its inception in 1996 CAAA members have achieved some notable successes in in bringing aviation history to the public through art displays and artwork included in aviation publications. The CAAA was awarded the prestigious "Belt of Orion" award in 2002 from Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame in recognition of this contribution. The Millennium Collection and other aviation art displays will be open to the public upon admission to the air museum during museum open hours from xx to xx daily.The general public is also invited to view the artwork of the CAAA artists at the following times and venues:
