"Dean's Ride Home"- by Steve Tournay
Another small one done as a present.
This one was painted for Karen Gilmore Trimble and her dad in Pennsylvania.
The P-51B is a Stateside advanced-training ship; the gentleman in uniform
is Karen's uncle Dean Gilmore. The image of Lt. Gilmore is based on a
wartime photo of him taken while he was flying Allison Mustangs in the
Med; later, flying as an instructor on P-51Bs in Florida, he was killed
in a flying accident. The recovered remains of his P-51B became the basis
for Jack Roush's P-51B restoration in Michigan, which is scheduled to
fly this summer.
