First Blood - by Layne Larsen

On November 1, 1941, S/L P. Davoud and his RAF radar op Sgt. T. Carpenter downed a Dornier Do-217E-4 flown by the Staffelkapitan of KG-4, 70 miles east of Digby. This was Davoud's, and 409 Squadron's, first kill. 409 had originally been fitted with Defiants, but in mid-1941 had converted to the Beaufighter NF.Mk.II.
