Katherine Stinson Curtiss Special by Jim Bruce
On July 9, 1918 in her custom-built biplane, Katherine Stinson, the fourth American woman to earn a pilot's license and famous as a barnstormer, flew the first air mail delivery in western Canada in a flight from Calgary to Edmonton, carrying a mail bag with 259 letters. On July 9, 2006, a re-enactment of Katherine Stinson's airmail delivery, the first cross-country flight in Alberta, will be made by flying 259 letters from Calgary to Edmonton. The event is a joint effort of the western chapter of the Canadian Aerophilatelic Society (CAS) and the Alberta Aviation Museum Association. The arrival in Edmonton will coincide with the official unveiling of the Curtiss Special. The aircraft will then officially join the collection of historic aircraft at the Alberta Aviation Museum.

Portrait of Henry Fonda from "Fort Apache" by Jim Bruce
"A portrait in oil on canvas of Henry Fonda. The U.S. flag has always blown me away as a graphic device, so I used the civil war version (c.1865) as a backdrop. Fonda is portrayed as an officer in the U.S. Cavalry in the terrific movie Fort Apache, an 1948 epic that grossed $445,000.00. Pretty modest by today's standards! He was 43 at the time." - Jim Bruce
